Anonymous, the online hacktivist group, has officially started waging a cyber-war against Daesh. Acting under the hashtag #OpParis, they are reporting to have shut down 5,500 Twitter accounts linked directly to the organization.
Anonymous spokesman Alex Poucher was quoted as saying: “Our capability to take down ISIS is a direct result of our collective’s sophisticated hackers, data miners, and spies that we have all around the world. We have people very, very close to ISIS on the ground, which makes gathering intel about ISIS and related activities very easy for us.”
Here is one of the official messages from the group, posted to YouTube November 16th, 2015.
As the Anonymous operation continues, they have slowly started to leak the personal information of those directly tied to Daesh. They are also conducting major DDOS attacks on ISIS related webpages with much success.
When Daesh vowed to become martyr’s for their insane cause, I don’t think these were the virgins they had envisioned. Props to Anonymous for using their skill-set in the fight against these barbarians.
