A small group of rebel fighters are ambushed as they try to place an IED.
This is what happens when you don’t pay attention to your surroundings in an urban combat environment. Rebel fighters in Syria try to place an IED, and before they can get to their desired location, they are ambushed. Moments into the gun battle, as the beaten rebels retreat, their IED detonates prematurely.
A very important lesson in situation awareness was just taught to these rebels, and they paid for it in blood. Urban environments are extremely dynamic, and three dimensional. Apparently they didn’t realize that yet. If these guys had been paying attention to their surroundings, instead of being locked in on their destination, they may have seen this ambush coming.
Instead of being aware of the possible threats, they ended up inside of a funnel, and beaten zone at the same time. Not exactly my idea of a great location to be, but some how they managed to escape. Tunnel vision is never your friend in a war-zone, you always need to be on the look out for your enemy. I think it’s safe to say, that from now on these guys might keep a better eye on their surroundings.
