U.S. officials announced that an Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and his family were among those targeted in the terror blasts in brussels that left 35 people dead and wounded more than 300.

Lieutenant Colonel Kato Martinez was traveling with his wife and four children when the terrorists attacked. Martinez’s wife of 21 years, Gail Martinez, 41, was killed in the blast. Kato is said to be in an intensive care unit, while his children are being treated for burns and other injuries.

Most of the 60,000-plus U.S. troops stationed in Europe have been given orders to avoid travel to Brussels because of the festering sore of Islamist ideology that has infested parts of the city.
