We discovered the following video on a YouTube channeled TALIWHACK3R. According to the person who uploaded the footage, it shows video from the moment a rotary wing asset conducts a close air support mission against Taliban fighters who are an immediate threat to their maneuver element who are on a nearby spur securing land to establish Patrol Base Regi Topa.
In the users video description, only a single sentence is present. “While another element was clearing Topa, our Platoon was in a support by fire position.” The title of video also clearly states that 11 Taliban fighters were discovered dead in the area of the airstrikes during the battle damage assessment.
If you, or someone you know was present when this video was recorded please send an e-mail to [email protected] so that we can update this post with more information regarding the footage. Perspective is king in footage like this, and having an accurate archive of footage from the Global War on Terror is a way of ensuring that the lessons and bravery of the GWoT will never be lost to the sands of time.
Also, if you are the original poster of this video please reach out to us via e-mail so that we can discuss the possibility of adding this video to our privately owned, publicly accessible library of combat footage from around the world. As YouTube continues to crackdown on videos that do not tightly fit their community guidelines, content like this that archives the Global War on Terror and adds perspective to the war that was never present before is at risk for deletion. In response to this, our publicly accessible library of combat footage remains and open source location for footage of this type to be hosted in an environment where it will never risk being removed from the internet by a public corporation who views contents of a video as offensive or scary.
