Acies Acuta, the “cutting edge” is the motto of the Australian Special Operations Command (SOCOMD) which was formed in May 2003 to unite all of the Australian Army’s special forces units.
The SOCOMD units have officially operated in East Timor, Iraq, and Afghanistan… as well as other many unofficial clandestine operations in various global hotspots.
Australian commandos are trained to employ a variety of non-standard weapons and equipment, and maintains multiple specialised close combat, insertion and extraction skills. They must be capable of operating in environments characterised by high complexity, isolation from friendly forces, high levels of stress, danger and environmental hardship.
