The Marines of 1st Battalionn 2nd Marines, Company C, were the last Marine infantry company to conduct combat operations in Helmand Province.
Patrol Base Boldak was located outside of Camp Leatherneck in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. It stood for a long time as the base of operations that prevented the Taliban from conducting regular attacks on Camp Bastion and Leatherneck.
At the conclusion of combat operations in Helmand by the US Marines, Boldak was the last operational patrol base. While the Marines of 1/2 Charlie conducted routine combat patrols, the rest of the regular Marine Corps was preparing its exit from Afghanistan.
At the conclusion of their deployment to Afghanistan, the Marines of Charlie company were tasked with the deconstruction of PB Boldak.
